The application for the CARES Act is now closed. Funding related to the CARES Act has been exhausted at the 每日大赛 as of Tuesday, November 24, 2020.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As part of the CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act, the 每日大赛 received emergency relief funds, a portion of which provided emergency grants to students whose lives have been disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Grants were intended to cover unexpected expenses related to education such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care.<\/p>\n

To have qualified for a CARES grant, students must have been enrolled in \u200beligible terms\/semesters. They must also be a US citizen and have a FAFSA on file, demonstrating their eligibility to receive federal financial aid. International and undocumented students were not eligible for these awards. \u00a0These requirements are determined by the U.S. Department of Education, and the university is required by law to abide by them in allocating this federal funding.<\/p>\n

The maximum amount of emergency assistance that was provided by this grant was $1,500, with documentation of expenses required for all requests over $1,000.<\/p>\n

Per U.S. Department of Education guidance released May 6, 2020, the 每日大赛 is required to publish the following information about the administration of funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.<\/p>\n

  1. The 每日大赛 signed and returned the Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to the U.S. Department of Education on April 13, 2020.\u00a0 The university intends to use no less than 50% of the funds received under Section 18004 (a) (1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.<\/li>\n
  2. The 每日大赛 received $2,829,489 from the Department of Education to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.<\/li>\n
  3. The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of the following dates:
    \n6\/02\/2020: $1,540,004
    \n8\/12\/2020: $1,877,281
    \n9\/30\/2020: $2,198,763
    \n12\/31\/2020: $2,829,489<\/li>\n
  4. The estimated total number of students at the institution eligible to participate in programs under section 484 in TITLE IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act is 4,555.<\/li>\n
  5. The total number of students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of the following dates:

    \n8\/12\/2020: 2,262
    \n9\/30\/2020: 2,439
    \n12\/31\/2020: 2,916<\/li>\n
  6. The 每日大赛 used an application process to award the Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students.<\/li>\n
  7. Students received an email on May 7, 2020 notifying them of the availability of the CARES Act Emergency Grant Fund. The email outlined the criteria and informed students that the CARES Act Emergency Grants are to help cover students\u2019 unexpected expenses resulting from the campus disruption such as food, housing, technology needs, course material, childcare expenses, medical expenses and other expenses.\u00a0 Students were informed they could apply for the grant by submitting an application in the La Verne Portal.\u00a0 Once students apply and attest that their request is related to the campus disruption caused by COVID19, staff review the application and if eligible, a grant up to $1,500 is awarded.\u00a0 Additional information related to the CARES Grant and FAQs can be found at https:\/\/laverne.edu\/accounts\/cares\/<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
