{"id":10,"date":"2017-11-11T16:19:43","date_gmt":"2017-11-12T00:19:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/counseling\/?page_id=10"},"modified":"2023-08-22T10:01:03","modified_gmt":"2023-08-22T17:01:03","slug":"expectations","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/counseling\/expectations\/","title":{"rendered":"What to Expect"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>When you call or email CAPS to make an appointment, you can expect the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You will be asked to provide your name, student ID, and phone number.<\/li>\n<li>The administrative assistant will work with you to find a good time for your first 50 minute appointment.<\/li>\n<li>You will be asked if you wish to share the reason for making the appointment. \u00a0This can help match you with a counselor who can assist you best.<\/li>\n<li><span>You will be asked to complete a Counseling Consent form via a link sent to you by email.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>When the CAPS therapist contacts you for your first appointment, you can expect the following to occur:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The therapist&#8217;s goal in the initial session is to learn more about your current concerns and your history. \u00a0This is called an intake. \u00a0The therapist will ask you a series of questions and you should answer to the extent that you feel comfortable. \u00a0The more information you are willing to share, the better the counselor can understand your concerns and work with you to create a plan to address them.<\/li>\n<li>The session will wrap up and be done by 50 minutes after the hour. \u00a0All sessions are 50 minutes long.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When you call or email CAPS to make an appointment, you can expect the following: You will be asked to provide your name, student ID, and phone number.
