Dane鈥檚 research focuses on the interconnections among existentialism, philosophy of mind, Buddhism, and meditation, and is interested in what these philosophical perspectives reveal about the nature of consciousness. Some of Dane鈥檚 recent publications include 鈥淢indfulness Meditation: A Sartrean Analysis,鈥 鈥淓xistenz and Nothingness: Jaspers and Sartre on the Ontology of Truth,鈥 鈥淲ho Are Chidi and Eleanor in a Past鈥(After)Life? The Buddhist Notion of No鈥怱elf鈥 (in The Good Place and Philosophy), and 鈥淣othingness, Emptiness, and Ecology: A Reframing of Sartre鈥檚 Early Ontology through Buddhist Metaphysics鈥 (in Earthly Engagements). Dane鈥檚 teaching spans a wide spectrum of subjects, including courses in Eastern Philosophies/Religions; Post-Colonial Philosophies/Theories; Continental Philosophies; and Religions, Film, and Pop-Culture.
