Fellows are nominated by their president or chancellor on the basis of their potential for public leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Through our partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/compact.org\/\">Campus Compact<\/a>, this fellowship provides students with training and resources that nurture their assets and passions and help them develop<span>\u00a0<\/span>strategies<span>\u00a0<\/span>for social change. The yearlong program, named for Campus Compact founder\u00a0Frank Newman,\u00a0includes virtual learning opportunities and networking as part of a national network of engaged student leaders and an\u00a0optional in-person convening.<\/p>\n<p><span>We view the Newman Civic Fellowship as a core component of our strategy\u00a0to build a national network of engaged student leaders who\u00a0can support one another in building transformational partnerships between campuses and communities.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Previous Nominees, 2013 &#8211; current<\/h2>\n<ul type=\"1\">\n<li>2025 &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/compact.org\/current-programs\/newman-civic-fellowship\/newman-civic-fellows\/matthew-10\">Matthew Markey<\/a><\/li>\n<li>2024 &#8211; \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/compact.org\/current-programs\/newman-civic-fellowship\/newman-civic-fellows\/jocel\">Jocel A.
