Two types of Cal Grants are available to students at La Verne:
- Cal Grant A (for middle-income and high-need students)
- Cal Grant B (for disadvantaged and high-need students).
聽You may receive a Cal Grant for up to four (4) years (fifth additional year may be granted if you qualify and are pursuing a Teaching Credential).
You must be enrolled at least half-time (6 units per semester (or 4 units per term if you’re in a term based program) to be eligible unless you are a graduating senior in your final semester.
How to Apply for a Cal Grant
If you are an incoming freshman/transfer undergraduate student or a current La Verne undergraduate student who has not been awarded a Cal Grant, follow these simple steps to apply for a Cal Grant:
- Complete the or by March 2.
- Submit the to the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) by March 2.
- Students new to La聽Verne as of the winter or spring terms: Your GPA Verification must be certified by your previous school of attendance.
- Transfer or continuing students with less than 24 cumulative units earned and/or transferred to La Verne as of the end of the fall term: Your GPA Verification must be certified by your high school.
- Continuing La聽Verne students with MORE THAN 24 cumulative units聽earned and/or transferred to La聽Verne as of the end of the fall term: La聽Verne will upload your GPA Verification information electronically to the California Student Aid

How to Renew a Cal Grant
Students who have been awarded a Cal Grant A or B in the previous aid year will automatically be considered for a Cal Grant in the following aid year if the student meets the聽following qualifications:

Note: Current La聽Verne students with a Cal Grant are not required to submit a GPA Verification Form. La聽Verne annually submits your GPA to CSAC electronically by the March 2 deadline.
