There are two types of student employment on campus, La&nbsp;Verne Work Study\/Student Employment and Federal Work Study. \u00a0Federal Work Study is need based and is awarded to students through their financial aid award. La&nbsp;Verne Work Study\/Student Employment jobs are paid by a department and do not require funds to be awarded through financial aid.<\/p>\n<h2>What is Federal Work Study?<\/h2>\n<p>Federal Work Study is a paid work opportunity to eligible undergraduate and graduate\u00a0students with financial need, allowing\u00a0them to earn money to pay for educational expenses. Employment may not exceed 20 hours per week during periods when school is in session in the fall and spring semesters. Every effort is made to place students in work related to their studies, career plans, or community service. To be considered for Federal Work Study a student must apply for financial aid by completing the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.\u200bgov\/h\/apply-for-aid\/fafsa\">Free Application for Federal Student Aid<\/a>\u00a0(FAFSA).<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Community Service Program<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Federal Work Study Community Service Program (FWS-CSP) is a wonderful opportunity for students to engage with local non-profits organizations in La\u00a0Verne, Pomona, or the Inland Empire to gain real world career experience, positively impact the community, and earn money.<\/p>\n<p>This opportunity seeks to connect Federal Work Study eligible students with community partners in accordance with Federal Work Study Community Service guidelines. The University of La\u00a0Verne\u2019s Offices of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/engagement\">Civic and Community Engagement<\/a> and\u00a0Financial Aid\u00a0 co-administer this program.\u00a0\u00a0You must be awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) to apply for a FWS Community Service\u00a0job. To begin the process, follow the steps below.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Step 1<\/strong>: Accept your FWS award on the <a href=\"https:\/\/myportal.laverne.edu\/\">La&nbsp;Verne Portal<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Step 2<\/strong>: Search the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/financial-aid\/federal-work-study-community-service-program\/\">FWS-Community Service Job Board<\/a>, contact the supervisor for an interview.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Step 3<\/strong>: Download, review\u00a0and complete the forms below. Submit your forms to the Office of Financial Aid.
