We are excited to have you join\u00a0the Leo family! We want to make sure you get started on the right foot when you arrive and we are here to help you in every step of the way. Below we have compiled a list of important things for you to do to help you prepare before and after you have arrived on campus.<\/p>\n

Before You Arrive:<\/span><\/h2>\n
Pay the SEVIS I-901 Fee<\/h5>\n

Before your visa interview, pay the <\/span>SEVIS I-901 fee<\/span><\/b><\/a> online.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Print and keep the receipt\u2014you will need it for your visa appointment.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Apply for an F-1 Visa<\/h5>\n

Schedule a visa interview at the <\/span>nearest U.S. embassy or consulate<\/span><\/b><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Prepare for your visa interview and take with you the required documents:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Form <\/span>I-20 (from the university),\u00a0<\/span>SEVIS fee receipt, and financial support documents.<\/p>\n

Arrange Housing & Transportation<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

Secure your <\/span>on-campus or off-campus housing before traveling. Visit the <\/span>La Verne Housing website<\/span><\/b><\/a> for on-campus options.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Plan how to get from the <\/span>airport to the university.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Set Up Your La Verne Email Account<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

Being able to access your La Verne email account is vital! You will begin to receive emails that contain very important information and instructions as soon as you are admitted to the university and before arriving on campus. This will be the main form of communication between you and your professors, your academic advisors, the ISSA, and all other campus departments. Please make sure\u00a0to check your emails regularly.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Set Up Your La Verne Portal Account<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

Your account will need to be set up in order to view the course available, register for courses, pay tuition, purchase books, and keep your contact information updated within the university system (different than SEVIS).\u00a0Update your contact information.<\/p>\n

Review Policy on Student Health Insurance Requirements<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

Read the policy<\/a> <\/strong>on <\/span>mandatory student health insurance requirement<\/span>. Visit the <\/span>Student Health Services<\/span><\/b><\/a> for details.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Complete Required Health Forms & Immunizations<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

The 每日大赛 Student Health Center is requesting all immunization documents and medical clearance forms to be submitted to the SHC. For more information, visit Student Health Services<\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Read the Pre-Arrival Handbook<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

Prepare your arrival by reading the\u00a0<\/span>handbook\u00a0which contains <\/span>important information about campus life, rules, and support services. You can find it <\/span>here<\/span><\/b><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After You Arrive<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n
Attend Mandatory ISSA Orientation<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

International students are required to attend orientation to learn about F-1 visa regulations, responsibilities, and how to maintain compliance. Orientation is also a great opportunity to meet fellow international students and explore\u00a0<\/span>campus resources and student clubs.<\/p>\n

Submit Copies of Your Visa and I-94<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

International students\u00a0must complete the New International Student Check-In Form<\/a><\/strong>. On the form, you will be required to upload a copy of your <\/span>I-94 arrival record and a copy of your visa. Additionally, you will need to add your current U.S. mailing address.\u00a0If you move or change your phone number, you are required to report it to ISSA\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/span>within 10 days.<\/p>\n

Obtain Your Student ID Card<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

Visit the <\/span>Registrar\u2019s Office<\/a> <\/span><\/b>in Woody Hall with y<\/span>our <\/span>student number,\u00a0y<\/span>our <\/span>passport,\u00a0and be prepared to have your photo taken.<\/p>\n

Apply for Parking Pass (If Needed)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n

If you have a car, apply for a <\/span>campus parking pass to park in university lots.<\/span>\u00a0To order a parking pass, log into your La Verne portal and click <\/span>on “Student Resources” on the left hand side of the page.\u00a0If you have trouble ordering a permit or have any questions, please call Transportation and Parking Services at 909-448-4764 or visit us in the Campus Safety office on the ground floor of the parking structure. Please note that the parking pass\u00a0<\/span>does not cover timed street parking.<\/p>\n
