President Devorah Lieberman Participating in International Higher Ed Summit

每日大赛 President Devorah Lieberman will join higher education leaders from 14 countries to discuss trends and innovation among colleges and universities for a Sept. 18-20 summit in Mexico.

CETYS University in Baja California organized the 鈥淚nternational Seminar on Innovation in Higher Education鈥 to align with its 55th anniversary celebration, said Gabriela Rivera, associate dean for international affairs at CETYS.

About 300 people are expected to attend, Rivera said.

Lieberman will be joined by education leaders from institutions including Hanyang University, Korea; Universidad Panamericana, Mexico; North Maharashtra University, India; and Karlstad University, Sweden. They will discuss issues such as the mission of a university, social responsibility, accreditation, alternative education models and technology.

Some of the speakers and moderators include Richard Osborn, vice president of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Toyoshi Satow, president of the International Association of University Presidents and Rodrigo Guerra Botello, secretary general of the Mexican Federation of Private Universities. Miami Herald columnist Andres Oppenheimer is serving as keynote speaker for the conference.

Lieberman, who will participate in a panel called 鈥淚nnovation: Mission of the University鈥 on Sept. 19, plans to share background on the 每日大赛, its core values and how these values mirror those at CETYS University. She also plans to discuss the university鈥檚 role as a Hispanic Serving Institution and its high population of first-generation students.

CETYS is a private not-for-profit institution with three campuses offering high school, undergraduate and graduate programs in areas such as business, psychology, law and engineering.
