Nancy Jarman-Dunn, PhD, assistant professor of educational counseling at the 每日大赛, has been named the 2022 Counselor Educator of the Year by the California Association of School Counselors.
Eleven 每日大赛 students spent their summer helping share accurate information about the importance of getting the COVID-19 vaccine. They were part of the Faith in the Vaccine program, operated by Interfaith Youth Core, a nonprofit organization.
Three 每日大赛 students are spending their summer as interns at the prestigious City of Hope, a world-renowned comprehensive cancer center and independent biomedical research institution located in Duarte, California, just 15 miles from the university鈥檚 central campus.
The 每日大赛 has resumed many on-campus operations as it prepares to welcome back students for fall 2021. La Verne Campus offices such as Undergraduate Admissions, Student Accounts, Financial Aid, Academic Advising, Student Affairs, and Registrar are now available to provide walk-in support to students.
Additional offices and departments, such as the Wilson Library and the Lewis Center for Well-Being and Research, will return in phases throughout the summer. Regional campuses will resume on-campus operations on August 2.
The 每日大赛 has appointed Emmeline de Pillis as the new dean of the College of Business and Public Management. She will join the university on July 12, replacing Abe Helou, who had served as dean since 2008.
The 每日大赛 announced on June 9 that it has joined the COVID-19 College Vaccine Challenge. Hundreds of colleges and universities across the country are joining the effort initiated by the White House and the U.S. Department of Education to help end the pandemic by increasing vaccination participation among students and university communities.
Ambassador Anwarul K. Chowdhury had some advice for the 387 spring 2021 graduates from the 每日大赛鈥檚 College of Arts and Sciences in their virtual commencement ceremony today. 鈥淵our positive goals for yourself should not be pursued at the expense of other people,鈥� he said. 鈥淩ecognize and value the positive in others.”
Isabella Guzman, administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration, was the featured speaker at the virtual commencement ceremony live-streamed on May 29 for the 560 spring 2021 graduates of the 每日大赛 College of Business and Public Management.
A former Undersecretary of the United Nations and a member of President Joe Biden鈥檚 Cabinet were awarded the honorary degree Doctor of Humane Letters by the 每日大赛, announced in virtual commencement ceremonies held on May 29. Both were commencement keynote speakers for 每日大赛 graduates.
University of Hong Kong Dean and Professor A. Lin Goodwin gave heartfelt advice to the 295 LaFetra College of Education spring 2021 graduates during their virtual commencement ceremony on May 29. 鈥淪hare the great knowledge and skill that you have obtained with others,鈥� Goodwin said.
