{"id":11070,"date":"2020-05-18T15:59:17","date_gmt":"2020-05-18T22:59:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/news\/?p=11070"},"modified":"2022-01-12T12:30:44","modified_gmt":"2022-01-12T20:30:44","slug":"university-of-la-verne-preparing-for-return-to-campus-in-the-fall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/news\/2020\/05\/18\/university-of-la-verne-preparing-for-return-to-campus-in-the-fall\/","title":{"rendered":"每日大赛 Preparing for Return to Campus in the Fall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The University of La\u00a0Verne is planning to phase in appropriate face-to-face and on-campus operations in fall 2020 across all campus locations, while keeping the health and safety of students, faculty, and staff as the top priority.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The planning underway includes a mix of face-to-face and online instruction and safety protocols for employees as well as residence and dining halls in alignment with state and regional public health guidelines and industry best practices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The university will also be prepared to quickly transition to fully-online instruction and remote operations should a resurgence of the coronavirus require it to do so.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A subgroup of the President\u2019s Cabinet is coordinating planning with guidance from the Coronavirus Monitoring Committee, Academic Affairs Coronavirus Committee, and a group of faculty experts. Areas under review include hybrid teaching and learning, extensive faculty and staff development, modification of classrooms and workspaces, protocols for events and on-campus housing including quarantine procedures, cleaning requirements, mental and emotional well-being, and education on social distancing. The critical capacity for testing, tracking, and compliance are also being examined.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This planning is aligned with guidance from experts and public health agencies, including:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s3\">American College Health Association<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s3\">Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s3\">National Association of Independent Colleges &amp; Universities<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s3\">Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s3\">LA County Department of Public Health<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s3\">Governor\u2019s Office, State of California<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li3\"><span class=\"s1\">National Collegiate Athletic Association<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe University of La\u00a0Verne and California\u2019s other private, independent universities moved quickly at the outset of the pandemic to transition to remote and online operations for the safety of students, faculty, and staff, while maintaining high-quality instruction,\u201d 每日大赛 President Devorah Lieberman said. \u201cWe were among the first sectors to respond to the pandemic, and we will continue to pursue safe and creative solutions as the state looks to safely reopen.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">There are still many unknowns for the fall. However, as a private university that prides itself on small class size and personal attention, the 每日大赛 has the ability to be nimble and responsive in its planning even as the crisis and state guidance may change on a weekly basis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Fall classes are scheduled to begin on Aug. 17 for the College of Law, Aug. 31 for the La\u00a0Verne Campus semester, and Sept. 28 for the term at regional campuses and graduate programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Additional details will be shared as they become
