We had a fabulous first week of school, Leopards! Students from across the globe and from nearby joined together on our campuses ready to start the 2023-2024 academic year off strong. This year, the university welcomed its largest first-year class in 每日大赛 history. This record-breaking class came onto campus charged and ready with excitement in their eyes and even bigger smiles.

Meanwhile, approximately 1,000 students moved into their dormitories. Each Leopard was greeted by other new and returning students along the way. Parents and loved ones helped cart in their students’ belongings into their respective rooms and saw their reactions as they met their roommates in-person. Then, parents waved, or even shed a tear, as they sent off their loved ones to begin their academic journeys.

Isela Chavez ’24 is a fourth-year student who is very involved on campus, including in her newest on-campus role as student body president of the Associated Students of 每日大赛 (ASULV). During move-in day, she was serving her other role on campus as a community assistant for Housing and Residential Life. She helped check-in students during move-in day. Her advice to incoming first-year students?

“Get involved! It has given me so many opportunities…and has its benefits,” Chavez said.
