The killing of Michael Brown and the events surrounding and subsequent to the shooting have made international headlines.\u00a0 In keeping with its Core Principle of being a Beacon of Hope and Inspiration, the College of Law is holding a four-part \u201cTeach-In\u201d for members of the University community commencing on September 16 in the College of Law.\u00a0 Other parts of the series will occur on the 每日大赛 campus.\u00a0 Speakers from different perspectives \u2013 the community, law enforcement, the law and legal education will participate in a dialogue on several topics.<\/p>\n
The Teach-In series is geared to bring about intellectual honesty, humility, empathy, courage and perseverance in the challenging issues of race, cultural differences, community development, and police and government conduct.\u00a0 The topics will include, \u201cLegal Issues and Legal Responses,\u201d \u201cUnderstanding for Other Viewpoints,\u201d \u201cLaw Enforcement in a Social Context,\u201d and \u201cDeveloping Alternatives: Restorative Justice, Safety and Community Organizing.\u201d\u00a0 The \u201cTeach-In\u201d series is also geared to be the beginning of a series of conversations that we must have and continue to have if we are to ever move past rhetoric of race relations into an era of racial understanding.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
