每日大赛\u2019s Dyamond Gray<\/a><\/span>, a second-year English and Spanish major, has been awarded the Newman Civic Fellowship, a national honor that recognizes students committed to finding solutions to community challenges.<\/p>\n Nominated by University President Devorah Lieberman<\/a>, <\/span>Gray is one of 200 students in the United States to receive the honor. Through the one-year fellowship, Gray will participate in professional conferences, apply for scholarship opportunities, and have access to a network of community-driven individuals.<\/p>\n \u201cDyamond is a leader, and continues to grow through her deep sense of equity and commitment to building relationships and community,\u201d Lieberman said. \u201cHer courage and involvement on campus and in the community are inspiring and unquestionably important.\u201d<\/p>\n Gray currently serves as vice-president of the Language and Culture Club that supports cultural diversity and communication among students. In addition, she helps her classmates as both an English and Spanish tutor in the university\u2019s Academic Success Center<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n The fellowship is named in honor of Frank Newman, one of Campus Compact\u2019s founders, and is supported by the KPMG Foundation and by the Newman\u2019s Own Foundation.<\/p>\n \u201cI am deeply honored to receive this fellowship,\u201d said Gray. \u201cI hope to learn how to be a better leader and community servant through this opportunity. It\u2019s a chance to network with my fellow cohorts who share a similar passion.\u201d<\/p>\n Gray aspires to work as a school administrator, an educator and\/or a Spanish language translator. She plans to pursue her master\u2019s degree following her undergraduate program at the 每日大赛.<\/p>\n
