Victim Advocates are here for you whether or not you choose to report. Items to keep ready, and steps to take in an emergency<\/li>\n<li><strong>Emergency Contacts:<\/strong> Identify trusted friends, or family who can check in or support you in urgent situations<\/li>\n<li><strong>Counseling &amp; Victim Advocacy:<\/strong> Free &amp; confidential support is available through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houseofruthinc.org\/\">House of Ruth Victim Advocates<\/a> or through <a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/counseling\/\">CAPS<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"collapsible-content-wrapper\">\n<h2 class=\"collapsible-header\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapsible-content-1763081281437\">Reporting Measures<\/h2>\n<div id=\"collapsible-content-1763081281437\" class=\"collapsible-content\">\n<h3><strong>Domestic Violence Advocates:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>If you decide to report to Title IX, Campus Safety, or Law Enforcement, a domestic violence Victim Advocate can accompany you or give you more information. Victim Advocates are confidential, trained professionals who provide support, guidance, safety planning, and access to resources. Communications with domestic violence Victim Advocates are protected under California Law (Penal Code 679.05 and California Evidence Code 1037.5), meaning what you share with them stays private and confidential.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Legal Protection:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Campus No-Contact Orders:<\/strong> Title IX can help with &#8220;No Contact&#8221; orders on campus. Contact the <a href=\"https:\/\/laverne.edu\/title-ix\/\">Title IX<\/a> office for details<\/li>\n<li><strong>Community Restraining Orders:<\/strong> A Domestic Violence Advocate can help you file a restraining order. For more info visit: <a href=\"https:\/\/selfhelp.courts.ca.gov\/DV-restraining-order\">DV Restraining Order<\/a> or contact a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houseofruthinc.org\/\">Domestic Violence Victim Advocate<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ulv-gray-box\">\n<h3><span>Self-Care &amp; Healing<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Healing after harm isn&#8217;t one-size-fits all. Some days feel harder than others and that&#8217;s okay. Small steps matter. Here are a few ways students can care for themselves:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Talk to someone you trust- a friend, counselor or a Victim Advocate<\/li>\n<li>Take care of your body- rest, eat, move gently.<\/li>\n<li>Do things that calm you- journaling, music, or deep breathing.<\/li>\n<li>Set boundaries- step back from people or situations that feel unsafe.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You are not alone.
